Bolshiye Gorki

Bolshiye Gorki is a neoclassical mansion near Moscow with a prominent columned front and surrounded by landscaped grounds. The building stands within an expansive park containing outbuildings, pathways, and planted areas that date from the early 1900s.

The house was constructed in the early 1900s as a private residence and served as a home until 1924. Following the departure of its final resident, the property was converted into a museum to preserve the history of that era.

The rooms display personal belongings and work items that belonged to the household residents, offering insight into how daily life unfolded in this space. Walking through the halls, visitors sense the everyday routines and activities that took place within these walls.

The estate lies outside Moscow and is accessible by train, with regular services from Moscow's main railway stations. It is advisable to arrive early to explore the rooms unhurriedly and walk through the grounds surrounding the house.

The museum preserves a rare automobile from the early Soviet period that was specially adapted for use in Russian winter conditions. This vehicle demonstrates how machines were modified back then to handle the harsh landscape and freezing climate.
