Кудымкарское городище

Kudymkarsky settlement sits on a steep promontory above the Kuva River, where people lived for many centuries. The site holds remains of wooden houses, storage pits, and fortification walls that show traces of this long occupation.

People began settling this location during the Iron Age and built wooden palisade fences and earth works for defense. Over hundreds of years the settlement grew and changed until it was eventually abandoned.

The objects found here show how different groups of people met and traded at this location over centuries. Local craft traditions mixed with goods and influences that arrived from distant places.

The site sits on high ground above the river and is reachable from the waterside area through several paths. The walk uphill requires some effort, but the elevated location offers good views of the river valley.
