Gorky Park

Gorky Park is an urban park in Rostov-on-Don with landscaped gardens, walking paths, several fountains, and a stone rotunda along Pushkinskaya Street. The grounds include playgrounds, sports courts, and an observatory positioned beneath mature shade trees.

The park was founded in 1813 when Mayor Alexander Yashchenko donated the former municipal dumping ground for public use. A wooden rotunda was constructed in 1864 and eventually replaced by the stone structure visitors see today.

The open-air gallery here displays works by local artists, and the space hosts regular events and festivals that bring residents together. People gather here throughout the year for cultural programs and social occasions.

The park is easily accessible with wide paths for leisurely strolls and shaded rest areas beneath the trees. Outdoor cafés are available during warmer months, and there is ample space for different activities depending on your interests.

The park houses the city's first fountain, called 'Boy with Basin', which sits near what was once the main town council area. This historic water feature deserves more attention than it typically receives from passing visitors.
