Լենինն անիվների վրա, Monument at October Railway Depot, Moscow, Russia
'Lenin on Wheels' is a bronze-colored plaster statue mounted on a pedestal constructed from locomotive connecting rods, sliders, and gears sourced from the October Railway Depot. The monument sits near Leningradsky Station in Moscow's northern industrial zone.
Railway workers initiated this monument in 1925 to mark the 8th anniversary of the October Revolution, financing it by selling scrap metal. The project emerged from the October Railway Depot and expressed workers' commitment to the Soviet project.
The monument reflects the relationship between railway workers and Soviet leadership, expressed through the choice of materials from their workplace. The pedestal itself becomes a statement about industrial labor and its role in the Soviet state.
The monument is freely accessible near Leningradsky Station in northern Moscow and can be reached easily on foot from the station. The surrounding area is part of an active railway zone, so visitors should remain aware of train operations and stay on established paths.
The statue rests on four actual railway wheels from a decommissioned tender, making it the only mobile Lenin monument in existence. This wheeled design allowed the structure to be moved to different locations if the need arose during the Soviet era.
