Речкуновка, Sanatorium and cultural heritage site in Berdsk, Russia.
Rechkunovka is a former sanatorium complex near Berdsk, set on a wooded site along the shore of Berdsk Bay in Russia. The complex once included treatment rooms, guest lodging buildings, and shared spaces for dining and recreation, all of which now stand abandoned.
The complex was built in 1959 and grew over the following decades with additional buildings and facilities. It closed in 2004 and has remained unused ever since.
Rechkunovka was part of a Soviet system that offered free stays to workers from factories and collective farms as a reward for good performance. A stay here was seen as a privilege, organized through workplaces rather than booked individually.
The site is not open to visitors and is in a deteriorated state, so access is not guaranteed and may be restricted. Anyone considering a visit should check local conditions beforehand, as parts of the grounds may be unsafe to walk through.
Despite being in ruins, the site is officially listed in Russia's cultural heritage register, which protects it from demolition on paper. No restoration work has taken place, so the listing has preserved its status without changing its physical condition.
