Свято-Троицкая церковь

The Trinity Church is an Orthodox temple in Bolkhov built with red brick walls decorated with white stone details and floral ornaments created from shaped bricks and tiles. The structure features multiple cupolas and displays architectural characteristics typical of Russian Baroque design from the early 18th century.

Construction of the temple took place between 1701 and 1708 on the site of an earlier wooden structure that belonged to the Bolkhov Kremlin. A separate bell tower was added in 1872 after structural concerns made it necessary to distance it from the main building.

The church serves as an active place of worship for the local community and displays original wall paintings alongside a carved gilded iconostasis from the 18th century. These decorative elements reflect the religious artistic traditions that remain part of daily spiritual life here.

Entry to the interior is typically available during religious services, and visitors should dress appropriately and respect the quiet atmosphere. The church is located in the historic center of Bolkhov and is easily accessible on foot, with the surrounding streets being straightforward to navigate.

The iconostasis inside was carefully carved and gilded by local craftsmen during the 18th century and remains one of the finest examples in the region. This hand-made artwork demonstrates how skilled artisans in provincial Russia created works of high artistic quality.
