Znamenka Street, 10

Znamenka Street 10 is a symmetrical mansion displaying late 19th-century Russian architecture characterized by detailed stone facades and ornamental window frames. The building continues to define the streetscape as an important example of residential design from that period.

Architect Bernhard Freudenberg designed this mansion in 1884 during a period when Moscow's wealthy elite were reshaping their neighborhood. This era brought numerous new buildings to the Arbat District that continue to tell the story of this prosperous area.

The residence reflects how wealthy Muscovites valued spacious rooms and ornate facades as symbols of their social standing during the late 1800s. You can still see the craftsmanship in the decorative stone work that defined homes of that era.
