Козацький хрест «Убієнним синам України»

This is a granite cross standing three meters tall on an earthen mound within the Sandarmokh memorial complex. The front features a sunburst design with stylized facial features of Ukrainian Renaissance figures who perished at this location.

The cross marks the location where over a thousand prisoners, including Ukrainian intellectuals from Solovki, were executed in 1937 during mass killings. These executions were part of Stalin's campaign of political repression.

The cross carries surface textures representing bound prisoners, serving as a tangible reminder of political repression. These details make the suffering of those remembered here physically visible to visitors.
