Набилковская богадельня

The Nabilkovskaya Almshouse comprises several classical Empire-style buildings arranged around a courtyard, with a two-story main wing and eastern residential section. The layout includes spaces for both living and support services, along with a chapel and former educational areas that shaped the complex's physical organization.

Founded in 1828 by merchant brothers Fyodor and Vasily Nabilkov, the facility initially sheltered people from different social backgrounds. Over the following decades, it expanded to include educational programs and medical services that extended its original purpose of providing shelter and care.

The Trinity Church within the complex reflects the spiritual role this place held for residents and the community. Today you can see how religious practice and social care were intertwined in the daily life of those who lived and worked here.

By the middle of the 1800s, the facility had added a specialized eye clinic and an elementary school, far expanding its original function. These additions reveal how the institution adapted over time to meet broader community needs beyond basic shelter.
