Astashovo estate

Astashovo estate is a three-story wooden building with intricate carved details, ornamental elements, and numerous windows along its exterior walls. The main house connects to three Scandinavian-style guest cottages and now serves as both a hotel and museum with rooms for overnight stays.

The estate was built in 1897 by Martyan Sazonov, a former serf who became a successful contractor in Saint Petersburg and acquired considerable wealth. The structure represents the economic advancement of workers who rose from servitude to operate prosperous businesses.

The main building displays traditional Russian wooden architecture with intricate carved details and ornamental work that local craftspeople executed with great skill. Visitors can see these handmade techniques and appreciate the craftsmanship while moving through the rooms.

The estate sits in a rural location and can be explored on foot, with all areas easily accessible to visitors moving at a leisurely pace. Allow time to see both the main house and surrounding cottages, and to explore the interior rooms and period details throughout.
