Сквер Чингиза Айтматова, Garden square in Danilovsky district, Moscow, Russia.
Chingiz Aitmatov Square is a roughly 2-hectare green space in the Danilovsky district with paved pathways and scattered seating. Trees and shrubs of various kinds grow throughout the area, arranged around the intersection of Pavlovskaya Street and Podolskoye Highway.
The square was renamed in 2017 after Kyrgyzstan's ambassador requested that Moscow honor the writer Chingiz Aitmatov in 2015. A ceremony opening the renovated space and unveiling the new monument took place in December 2018.
The square honors a Kyrgyz writer through its name and a memorial, reflecting ties between Russian and Kyrgyz cultures. People from Moscow's Kyrgyz community gather here, and the space hosts events that celebrate these shared connections.
The square sits within walking distance of Serpukhovskaya and Tulskaya metro stations and has multiple seating areas throughout. You can explore the grounds at any time and move freely around the green spaces.
The square represents Moscow's connections to cultures beyond Russia itself by honoring a major writer from Central Asia. The monument and regular events give visitors a chance to learn about Kyrgyz culture and its influence.
