The complex includes seven interconnected buildings with a concert hall, spanning along a central corridor axis on the Moscow hills near Kosygina Street.
Constructed between 1958 and 1962, the palace emerged after the 1957 World Festival of Youth and Students, marking a shift from Stalinist architecture.
The building features artistic panels, including the Young Leninists mosaic at the main entrance, created by Eugene Ablin using multiple artistic techniques.
The palace offers 1,300 educational programs for 14,000 children, with modern laboratories, workshops, a planetarium, and an observatory after its 2023 renovation.
The architectural team integrated water, earth, and sky elements through reliefs and murals, receiving the 1967 RSFSR State Prize for architectural excellence.
