Gleb Krzhizhanovsky Apartment Museum

The Gleb Krzhizhanovsky Apartment Museum is located on the second floor of a heritage building at Sadovnicheskaya Street 30 and displays personal belongings and documents of a Soviet industrial figure. The space spans about 170 square meters across six rooms, with five maintaining their original appearance, while two exhibition halls feature rotating historical displays.

The building rose after a wooden structure was destroyed during Napoleon's 1812 invasion and underwent major renovations by architect Vasily Shaub in 1904. The rooms later became Krzhizhanovsky's residence and document his work in Soviet energy planning and scientific development.

The museum displays personal belongings and photographs that reflect how Krzhizhanovsky lived and worked during the Soviet era. Visitors can see his original furniture and piano, which reveal his daily habits and personal interests alongside his professional work.

The rooms are spread across two floors and most of the original furnishings are still in place, giving a good sense of Soviet-era living conditions. It is worth taking time to explore the various displays and rotating exhibitions at a leisurely pace.

Before becoming a residence in 1919, the building served as office space for the Moscow branch of the Electric Lighting Society and related power companies. This industrial past makes Krzhizhanovsky's later occupation of the space particularly fitting, given his role in Soviet electrification.
