Igumensky Park, Municipal park in Tomsk, Russia
Igumensky Park is a green space in central Tomsk arranged around a lake covering approximately 1.3 hectares. It features wooden benches, gazebos, and a children's playground called Archimedes Courtyard for relaxation and play.
The lake in the park is a remnant of the Igumenka River, documented by German traveler Peter Simon Pallas in the late 1700s. The river dried up in the 1950s, leaving behind only this body of water.
The park takes its name from the Igumenka, a river that once shaped the area before it vanished. Today, the water and surrounding greenery serve as a reminder of this natural connection to the past.
The park has walking paths and multiple rest areas with seating distributed throughout the grounds. Visitors can explore freely, with water features and green spaces easily accessible.
The grounds support approximately 20 bird species and several plants listed in the Tomsk Region Red Book of endangered species. These botanical and zoological features make it a valuable natural area within the city.
