Kolmarden Tropicarium, Tropical animal exhibition in Norrköping Municipality, Sweden
Kolmarden Tropicarium is a tropical animal exhibition building with multiple zones displaying aquatic life in large tanks. The facility includes both freshwater and marine aquariums housing sharks, fish species, and other tropical creatures across its different sections.
This place started in 1972 as Kolmarden Terrarium under Stig Gustavsson's direction. The Farkasdi family took over in 1989 and expanded it into the current facility with its large collection.
The exhibition guides visitors through different tropical zones, from rainforest to ocean environments. Each section reflects how animals adapt to their specific habitats and how ecosystems function across the globe.
The visit takes you through separate zones, each showing different aquatic environments and animal displays. Plan enough time to move through all sections at a comfortable pace and observe the creatures in each area.
The facility houses living terrariums that replicate natural biotopes where visitors can see marmosets, macaws, meerkats, and alligators in structured environments. These recreations allow you to watch how these animals behave and live in their recreated habitats.
