Marma skjutfält, Military training complex in Älvkarleby Municipality, Sweden
Marma skjutfält is a military training facility located on extensive wooded land in Älvkarleby Municipality. The site contains officer buildings, training structures, and shooting ranges arranged across forest and open ground.
The facility was founded in 1881 as training grounds for the Svea Artillery Regiment. It later served under the Hälsinge Regiment mainly for infantry training until 1997.
The two pavilions built in the 1880s show the architectural work of Hjalmar and Axel Kumlien. These structures represent an important example of military building design from that period.
Access to the site is restricted during military exercises, so visitors should check conditions before arriving. The grounds spread across a large wooded area and require planning for exploring.
The shooting range is part of the Natura 2000 network while maintaining its military function. This combination of active training and nature protection is unusual in the area.
