Dragon Gate, Chinese cultural museum in Älvkarleby Municipality, Sweden.
Dragon Gate is a museum in Älvkarleby Municipality in Sweden that displays around 200 replica terracotta warriors from China. The site also includes a Chinese restaurant and a souvenir shop inside a larger building complex.
The building first opened in 1986 as Hotel Älvkarlen and passed through several owners over the years. Li Jingchun acquired the property in 2004 and converted it into the museum it is today.
A wooden relief carved with scenes from China runs along one wall, showing mountains and temples in fine detail. Visitors can walk past a statue of Guanyin and see how the interior spaces follow traditional Chinese design principles.
The site sits just off the E4 motorway, around 25 kilometers south of Gävle, with plenty of parking space in front. Travelers coming from Stockholm drive roughly 150 kilometers north and can reach the building easily from the main road.
The terracotta warriors inside are faithful copies of the famous figures from Xi'an, made especially for this location. The collection came about through direct cooperation with Chinese workshops and brings a piece of East Asian archaeology to Sweden.
