Skederid Church

Skederid Church is a medieval stone building with a cemetery in Norrtälje Municipality north of Stockholm. A wooden bell tower was added in 1775 above the medieval brick entrance gate at the churchyard, which remains a defining feature of the site.

The church was founded in 1201 as a chapel for Finsta manor. It underwent major expansion in the 15th century to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims who came to visit.

The church was closely tied to Saint Bridget and attracted pilgrims seeking religious experiences after her canonization. It became an important destination for people hoping to find spiritual refuge and blessing.

The church sits halfway between Norrtälje and Rimbo, making it easily accessible when traveling between these two towns. Services are held regularly, and the location provides a natural stop for visitors exploring local religious sites.
