Villa Frescati, Summer villa in Stockholm, Sweden
Villa Frescati stands as a neoclassical building on the northern outskirts of Stockholm, within the Royal National City Park of Norra Djurgårdsstaden.
Architect Louis Jean Desprez designed the villa in 1792 for diplomat Gustaf Mauritz Armfelt, naming it after the Italian city of Frascati visited by King Gustavus III.
The villa's name extended to the surrounding area, which developed into an academic center housing Stockholm University and the Swedish Museum of Natural History.
The property maintains its original function as a vacation residence while holding status as a governmental listed building complex since January 25, 1935.
Located at coordinates 59.366667, 18.05, the villa initiated the development of a scientific district that includes the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
