Rosenlunds herrgård, Manor house in Jönköping, Sweden
Rosenlunds herrgård is a manor house in Gustavian style in Jönköping, featuring symmetrical facades with classical details and situated near Lake Vättern. The estate includes a garden containing around 550 different rose varieties.
The house was built in 1788 by Gustaf Mauritz Posse, a high-ranking judicial official who transformed the estate into a center for agricultural advancement. This founding period shaped its development and appearance for generations to come.
The house reflects late 18th-century aesthetics, where Swedish design principles merge with neoclassical elements. The architecture shows how wealthy families of that era shaped their homes and expressed their social status through building choices.
The property is managed by the municipality and functions today as a venue for conferences and weddings. Guided tours are available from May through September and offer insight into the house and its surroundings.
The rose garden earned the Award of Garden Excellence from the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2022, the first Swedish garden to receive this honor. This recognition highlights its standing as one of the most notable rose gardens in Northern Europe.
