Segerstedthuset, Administrative building at Uppsala University, Sweden
Segerstedthuset is an administrative building at Uppsala University in Sweden, designed with two U-shaped office wings that enclose an open central courtyard. The structure allows natural light to penetrate multiple floors and houses university management offices along with various support services.
The building was designed by architectural firms 3XN and Indicum and opened in September 2017 as a symbol of new development at the university. Its modern design principles reflected a desire to bring together administrative functions with accessible public spaces.
The ground floor restaurant serves as a meeting place where students, staff, and local residents share meals and build connections. This shared space encourages interaction across different groups at the university and in the surrounding community.
The building is located on Dag Hammarskjölds väg 7 and is accessible on weekdays when the administrative offices are open. Visitors should know that public access is generally limited to the ground floor areas and restaurant.
The central courtyard creates an unexpected outdoor space in the middle of the administrative building that connects directly to the adjacent park. This linkage makes the structure a bridge between the academic campus and the broader urban surroundings.
