Istana Park

Istana Park is a green space next to the Presidential residence in Singapore, featuring gardens filled with tropical plants, flowers, and sculptures arranged along paved walkways. The grounds are crisscrossed by clean footpaths and offer resting areas throughout, along with information signs that explain the local plant species found here.

The park was established in 1990 as part of Singapore's plan to develop green spaces surrounding the Istana, the official residence of the nation's president. This development reflected the country's broader efforts to introduce more gardens and natural areas within the densely built urban environment.

The park becomes a gathering place during the annual Istana open-house celebrations, when locals and visitors use the gardens to mark national holidays together. On these days, the usually quiet grounds turn into a lively space where families and communities connect.

The park is located near several metro stations and is free to enter for all visitors at any time. The flat pathways are easy to walk on, and there are places to rest throughout, making it suitable for leisurely strolls and breaks.

Peacocks from the adjacent Istana grounds often wander into the park and surprise visitors with their colorful presence. These living ornaments add an unexpected touch of wildlife to a visit in the middle of the city.
