Internát Lafranconi

Internát Lafranconi is a student dormitory in Bratislava with multiple floors and rooms oriented south toward the Danube River. The structure follows functionalist architectural principles and provides dining facilities and sports areas within the building.

Architect Klement Šilinger designed this building between 1927 and 1933, completing construction in two distinct phases. The project was part of Bratislava's modernization efforts during the early 20th century.

The dormitory has long been tied to sports education and shapes student life in this neighborhood. You see athletes moving daily between classrooms and training spaces throughout the building.

This site is best viewed during daylight hours when the exterior and surroundings are clearly visible. Keep in mind that this is an active student area and access to interior spaces may be limited.

A distinctive oval staircase winds through the entire building and creates a characteristic visual feature. The symmetrical design was planned not only to optimize natural light but also to maximize views of the Danube.
