CentralWorld, Shopping center in Pathum Wan district, Thailand.
CentralWorld is a large complex on seven floors in the commercial district of Bangkok with hundreds of shops and restaurants. The building also houses conference spaces and a tall tower that rises above the surrounding streets.
The site opened in the late eighties as World Trade Center and later carried the name Central World Plaza. Following a thorough redesign, the complex received its current name in the early 21st century.
The broad plaza in front of the building draws music performances and public gatherings that reflect the rhythm of the city. Visitors encounter a mix of locals spending their free time and travelers meeting in the shade of the shops.
A direct connection to the elevated railway makes arrival easy and leads visitors into the ground floor of the complex. The corridors are wide enough to move without crowding even during busy daytime hours.
The roof offers access to areas that allow a panoramic view over the rooftops and intersections of the city. Few visitors know that quiet corners can also be found up there, away from the rush on the lower floors.
