Museum of Buddhist Art

The Museum of Buddhist Art in Suan Luang is an exhibition space with 16 rooms displaying works from different regional traditions across Southeast Asia. The collection represents the artistic styles of several historical periods and countries across the region.

The Foundation for the Promotion and Conservation of Thai Arts established this museum as the country's largest institution dedicated to Buddhist artwork. The collection traces artistic developments across multiple centuries to the present day.

The collection represents Buddhist artistic traditions from across the region, with works in the styles of Khmer, Burmese, Laotian, and the historical Sukhothai period. You can observe how the visual representation of the Buddha changed over time and across different cultures.

The museum is open daily and offers multiple entry points to access different exhibition areas. Visitors should allow plenty of time to walk through the rooms at their own pace, as there is much to explore throughout the space.

A special section displays Christian artwork, including statues of Jesus Christ and Mary, shown alongside the Buddhist works. This unexpected juxtaposition of different religious traditions makes the museum a rare space of interreligious artistic exchange.
