Wat Phasi, Buddhist temple in Khlong Tan Nuea, Thailand.
Wat Phasi is a Buddhist temple in the Khlong Tan Nuea neighborhood of Bangkok, made up of several buildings with tiered Thai-style roofs and gilded ornamental details. The compound includes a central ordination hall, smaller shrines, and a walled courtyard shaded by mature trees.
The temple was founded during the early period of Bangkok and served as a spiritual center for communities that settled along the canals in the Watthana area. Over the following decades, its buildings were gradually expanded and restored while keeping the classical Thai architectural style.
Wat Phasi is an active place of worship where monks lead daily prayers and local residents gather for Buddhist holidays. The main hall features traditional Thai murals depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha, which visitors can view when the hall is open.
The temple sits in a residential neighborhood near Ekkamai Road and is easy to reach on foot from the surrounding streets. Visitors should cover their shoulders and knees, as the space is used for worship throughout the day.
Although the surrounding neighborhood is now filled with apartment towers and offices, the temple still maintains a small community of monks who live on the grounds. Their living quarters are visible from inside the compound, giving the site a monastic feel that stands out in this part of the city.
