Göksu Waterfall, Waterfall in Gemerek district, Sivas province, Turkey

Göksu Waterfall is a natural cascade near Sızır village in the Gemerek district of Sivas province, Turkey, where water tumbles over rocky ledges into a tributary of the Kızılırmak river. The site features clearly visible layers of eroded rock shaped over time by the flow of water.

The waterfall was a well-known spot for local communities long before the 20th century. In the 1980s, the construction of a nearby hydroelectric plant diverted part of the flow, permanently changing the volume of water that reaches the cascade.

The waterfall is a popular gathering spot for families and villagers from nearby settlements, especially on warm weekends. People picnic on the rocks and along the stream bank below the cascade.

The waterfall can be reached on foot from Sızır village along a marked trail that passes rest spots and photography areas. The flow is strongest in spring and noticeably lower in summer, so the season affects what you see.

Underground springs feed the stream that forms the waterfall, producing geological structures where spring water meets old landslide deposits. These hidden water systems are still actively shaping the ground around the site today.
