Hakkâri Cilo and Sat Mountains National Park

The national park extends across 27,500 hectares of mountain ranges, containing deep valleys, waterfalls, glaciers, and numerous glacial lakes at high altitudes.

Mountaineers Ludwig Sperlich and Ludwig Krenek completed the first recorded ascent of Uludoruk peak, reaching 4,135 meters in elevation during their 1931 expedition.

Local communities practice seasonal migration to high pastures during summer months, maintaining traditional methods of livestock grazing in alpine meadows.

Access to the park involves a 37-kilometer journey from Hakkari city, with guided tours recommended due to challenging terrain and variable security conditions.

Ten permanent glaciers exist within the park boundaries, including the Izbirak Glacier, which measures five kilometers in length and reaches depths of 100 meters.
