Asmolova park, Protected garden art park in Sumy Oblast, Ukraine.
Asmolova Park is a protected garden art space spanning roughly 6 hectares near the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Winding paths guide visitors through a diverse collection of coniferous and deciduous trees, with more than a hundred rare species distributed throughout the grounds.
A merchant named Ivan Asmolov founded this park in the mid-1800s next to his residence on Troitska Street. He introduced plants from his travels, establishing the collection that forms the foundation of what exists today.
Lilac trees form a distinctive part of the landscape and draw visitors during the spring blooming season. Their presence shapes how people experience and remember the space.
The park is accessible to visitors with walking paths of varying difficulty suitable for different fitness levels. Spring and early summer offer the best time to experience the flowering displays and abundant greenery throughout the grounds.
The exotic plants originally brought by Asmolov have adapted to the local climate and continue to thrive after many decades. This botanical acclimatization across generations makes the collection scientifically valuable today.
