Kolos Stadium, Football stadium in Kovalivka, Ukraine
Kolos Stadium is a football ground in the small town of Kovalivka, in central Ukraine, with two covered side stands and one open tribune running the full length of the pitch. The ground also has a heated playing surface, drainage systems, an electronic scoreboard, and dedicated platforms for television cameras.
The stadium started as a small ground built for around 950 spectators and served the local community for many years in that modest form. A major renovation completed in 2020 expanded the capacity to just over 5,000 seats, turning it into a venue capable of hosting top-flight matches.
The black and white colors of FC Kolos, the local football club, appear throughout the ground on banners, seats, and signage. Matchdays draw fans from the surrounding villages, giving the venue a strongly local feel that bigger city arenas rarely have.
Getting to Kovalivka requires some planning, as the town is small and not served by major transport links, so arriving by car is the most straightforward option. Once inside, the sightlines from the side stands are very good, but there are no viewing areas behind either goal, so choose your spot along the sideline.
Despite Kovalivka being a small village, the stadium received official approval to host Ukrainian Premier League matches after its renovation, something very rare for a settlement of that size. The pitch heating system, which keeps the surface playable through cold winters, is a feature more commonly found in much larger professional venues.
