Kampala Tower, Skyscraper project in Kamwookya district, Kampala, Uganda.
Kampala Tower is a proposed skyscraper development planned for Kamwookya in the city center that will combine office spaces with retail and commercial areas. The structure will rise prominently above the surrounding urban landscape once completed.
The project began taking shape in 2010 when international and local architectural firms developed plans for the development. The initiative was born from a desire to create modern commercial infrastructure for the growing city.
The building site currently houses the Uganda National Museum and Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters, which will relocate to new locations.
The current site is occupied by two major institutions that must relocate before construction can begin. Their future locations have already been designated as part of the overall development plan.
Once finished, it will become Africa's tallest building, standing taller than another famous structure in Johannesburg. This achievement would give the city a remarkable place in continental rankings.
