Mill Hill, Residential suburb in North London, England
Mill Hill is a residential suburb in North London divided into three main sections: the Village, the Broadway, and the East area, connected by wide stretches of green space. The district combines housing of various ages, small local shops, and parks that run through the neighborhood.
The area was first mentioned in 1544 as Myll Hylles when it was farmland, and gradually transformed into a residential neighborhood. The establishment of a church in 1836 marked the formation of it as an independent parish.
The area maintains a strong sense of community through its green spaces and local gathering points where residents spend time together. Many people use the parks and squares for neighborhood activities and regular meetings.
The area is served by two railway stations: Mill Hill Broadway on the Thameslink line and Mill Hill East on the London Underground Northern line. Public transport connects the three sections well and offers regular services to central London.
The Village High Street is one of the shortest shopping streets in all of London and once bustled with shops serving the community. Many of these former businesses have been converted into homes, giving the street an unusual character.
