Donington Park, Motorsport racing track in Castle Donington, England.
Donington Park is a racing circuit in Castle Donington near East Midlands Airport, winding through parkland with noticeable elevation changes. The venue offers two track layouts, a longer Grand Prix version of roughly 2.5 miles and a shorter National Circuit of around two miles, both featuring technically demanding corners.
The circuit opened in 1931 on unsealed estate roads for motorcycle racing and later fell silent for an extended period. Tom Wheatcroft purchased the land in 1971 and rebuilt it as a major venue for car and motorcycle competition.
The museum housed one of the world's largest Grand Prix car collections for over four decades, displaying championship machinery from the 1970s onward. Visitors could trace technical evolution firsthand and stand next to legends from five decades of racing history.
The circuit sits close to the M1 motorway and the airport, making it straightforward to reach. Grandstands at various corners and straights offer different views of the action during events.
A 1993 Grand Prix race in pouring rain produced one of the most celebrated driving performances. The pilot gained four positions in the opening lap in under ninety seconds.
