KOKO, Historic entertainment venue in Camden Town, England
KOKO is a listed theatre and concert hall in Camden Town, London. The facade displays stucco work, arched windows, and a copper dome, while inside multiple levels with balconies surround the view of the stage.
The theatre opened in late December 1900 as a stage for drama and variety, later hosting cinema and radio broadcasts. After several transformations, the hall became a club in the 1970s before attracting musicians from 2004 under its current name.
The main auditorium now hosts live shows and electronic concerts, while the upstairs cinema continues to serve as a space for smaller performances. Backstage and in the wings, visitors can still recognize traces of the old radio studios where comedy programs were recorded.
The entrance lies on Camden High Street, a short walk from Mornington Crescent underground station. The stage sits on the ground floor, while balconies on multiple levels offer views, and access to the upper tiers is via staircases.
The dome, damaged in a 2020 fire, was replaced by a new structure replicating the earlier appearance. Following the 2022 reopening, the venue began its second stage life with concerts by a Canadian rock band.
