Cairnpapple Hill, Neolithic sacred summit and archaeological site in West Lothian, Scotland.
Cairnpapple Hill rises to 312 meters, featuring concentric oval rings of timber posts within a henge monument containing multiple burial structures.
The hilltop location transformed from a ceremonial ground with small hearths around 3500 BC into a significant burial site during the Bronze Age.
Archaeological excavations revealed imported axe heads from Wales, ceremonial objects, burial cists, and ritual artifacts including ancient pottery and wooden masks.
The site operates from April through September, with guided tours available Friday to Monday between 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM.
A concrete dome structure now preserves and displays the reconstructed graves, while colored gravel marks different burial phases outside.
