Dundee Contemporary Arts

Dundee Contemporary Arts is an arts center and cinema housed in a five-story converted warehouse building on Nethergate with two galleries and two cinema screens. The building also contains a print studio and cafe-bar where visitors can spend time between different areas.

The center opened in 1999 in a converted warehouse, symbolizing Dundee's shift from an industrial site to a cultural destination. Since then it has grown into an important arts institution in Scotland.

The center features work by local and international artists and regularly hosts workshops where visitors can try their hand at creative activities. The gallery spaces are actively used by the art community and invite participation.

Visitors can easily find the center in downtown Dundee on Nethergate with free entry to exhibitions. Film screenings and workshop activities require separate fees, and there is plenty of space to relax in the cafe-bar.

The cinema screen has a large window beneath it that frames views of the Tay estuary before and after the film. This unusual feature links the film experience to the surrounding landscape.
