St Edmund's Chapel, Medieval chapel in Dover, England
St Edmund's Chapel measures 28 feet in length and 14 feet in width, with thick rubble masonry walls and Caen stone architectural elements.
Bishop Richard of Chichester consecrated the chapel in 1253, delivered his final sermon there, and died shortly after in the nearby Maison Dieu.
The chapel contains medieval flagstones from Faversham Abbey, stone from Canterbury Cathedral, and a pre-reformation Mensa Stone discovered in a local farmyard.
The building stands protected as a Grade II* listed structure and remains open to visitors through management by The St Edmund of Abingdon Memorial Trust.
This structure represents the first chapel dedicated by an English saint to an English saint, specifically honoring St Edmund of Abingdon.
