Palmerston Park, Association football venue in Dumfries, Scotland

Palmerston Park is an association football venue in Dumfries, Scotland, sitting on Terregles Street in the Maxwelltown area. It has three main spectator sections, with seated areas on the east and west sides and a large standing terrace along the north.

The land was a farm called Palmers Toun before football started there in the 1870s, and the current ground opened in 1919 as home to Queen of the South. A fire destroyed the original main stand in the 1960s, and the replacement concrete stand still faces the pitch today.

On match days, the covered north terrace becomes the liveliest part of the ground, where home supporters gather to stand and sing for the whole game. The clock face above that terrace is a local landmark that older fans still point out to younger ones.

The stadium is an easy walk from the town center and the railway station, taking roughly a quarter of an hour on foot. Most visitors enter from Terregles Street, and the open terraces mean warm and waterproof clothing helps on colder matchdays.

The stadium's floodlight towers are the tallest free-standing examples of their kind in Scotland, which many visitors do not notice until an evening match begins. Parts of the 1999 film 'A Shot at Glory', starring Robert Duvall, were also shot inside the ground.
