Saddleworth is a civil parish in Oldham, England, encompassing multiple settlements including Uppermill, Dobcross, and Greenfield spread across the landscape. The area comprises a network of villages linked by local roads and characterized by moorland terrain.

The area originally belonged to Yorkshire before becoming part of Greater Manchester in 1974 through administrative reorganization. This change integrated it with the broader industrial region and altered its governance structure.

The Whit Friday brass band competition has drawn musicians from across the country since 1884 to perform in villages throughout the area. This event remains a key gathering where brass ensembles showcase their skills and traditions in front of local audiences.

The Rushcart ceremony, revived in 1975, is an unusual spectacle where Morris dancers construct and pull a cart filled with rushes through the streets. This rare tradition blends craftsmanship with dance in a distinctive way.
