Megafobia

Megafobia is a wooden roller coaster at Oakwood Theme Park in Pembrokeshire, Wales, with over 900 meters of track that reaches heights of about 26 meters and propels riders to speeds of up to 77 kilometers per hour. The coaster operates two trains with six cars each, carrying up to 24 riders per train in a side-by-side seating arrangement.

Custom Coasters International built this wooden coaster in 1996, marking the park's shift from a family leisure destination to a major UK attraction. Recent renovation work in 2023 reflected ongoing investment in keeping the ride current and exciting for new generations.

The wooden coaster shows how traditional ride engineering has been kept alive in the United Kingdom, where such structures remain uncommon. Visitors can experience the craftsmanship and design choices from an earlier era of amusement park development.

Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and store loose items like phones or glasses in lockers at the station, as the ride is vigorous and fast-moving. Arriving early in the day helps to avoid long waits and makes for a better overall experience.

The ride underwent major renovation in 2023, with a substantial portion of the original wooden structure replaced with new track work. This upgrade made the opening descent steeper and more intense while keeping the traditional look and feel of the coaster intact.
