The origins of this institution go back to the founding of the Nottingham Government School of Design in 1843. Mergers with several educational establishments over the decades led to the formation of the current university in 1970.
Students from over 100 countries contribute to the educational environment at NTU, participating in academic programs across nine specialized schools focusing on different disciplines.
Visitors can orient themselves at the City Campus, where the Boots Library offers learning resources and study spaces serving the student body. The different sites are spread across the urban area, so familiarity with local geography helps when planning a visit.
The Brackenhurst site includes a working farm located roughly 15 miles (24 kilometers) from the city center. This farm supports practical teaching in animal science and environmental studies.
