Tarbat Ness Lighthouse, Category A listed lighthouse in Portmahomack, Scotland

The Tarbat Ness Lighthouse stands 41 meters tall with two red bands marking its white tower at the northwest tip of the peninsula.

Robert Stevenson designed and built this maritime beacon in 1830 following the loss of 16 vessels during a devastating storm in the Moray Firth.

The peninsula holds connections to medieval conflicts, including the 11th-century Battle of Tarbat Ness between Thorfinn Sigurdsson and Karl Hundason.

The lighthouse beam reaches 24 nautical miles across the waters, with 203 steps leading visitors to the observation platform at the top.

The structure ranks as Scotland's third tallest lighthouse, featuring a distinctive pattern of two broad red bands on its white cylindrical tower.
