Lyme Park, Estate and house museum in Lyme Handley, England.
Lyme Park is an estate with a 16th-century mansion in Lyme Handley, England, encompassing gardens, woodland, and moorland. The building combines Elizabethan architecture with 18th-century Palladian-Venetian style alterations.
The Legh family acquired the estate through marriage in 1388 and lived there for over five centuries. They transferred it to the National Trust in 1946 after maintenance costs became too high.
The estate preserves rooms used for filming the BBC series in 1995 and remains popular with visitors. The servants' quarters show everyday life of household staff during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.
Several walking trails cross the grounds and lead through different landscapes from woodland to upland moor. Visitors find car parks at the main entrance and can get food and drinks at the on-site café.
A herd of red deer has lived freely on the grounds for centuries and can often be seen near the main paths. The estate also houses one of the oldest working pendulum clocks in England from 1658.
