Netherdale

Netherdale is a sports complex in Galashiels with two adjacent stadiums for rugby union and football. The grounds feature several training fields and a certified artificial pitch with modern floodlighting for multiple uses.

The facility was established in 1912 as a new home for Gala RFC after the club relocated. The main stand was built later in the 1960s and has shaped the grounds ever since.

The artificial pitch is FIFA certified and can be divided into multiple sections for simultaneous training by different groups. The grounds remain accessible in various weather conditions and are clearly marked for easy navigation.

The concrete main stand received protected heritage status in 2013, making it one of the few sports stadiums in the country with this official recognition. This designation reflects the architectural quality that extends beyond the sports function.
