Roald Dahl Plass, Public plaza in Cardiff Bay, Wales
The oval basin features stainless steel water installations and illuminated pillars surrounding a central tower structure at the northern entrance of Cardiff Bay.
The plaza opened in 2000 on the former site of Bute West Dock, receiving its name in 2002 to commemorate Cardiff-born author Roald Dahl.
The space connects major Welsh institutions including the Wales Millennium Centre, Welsh Senedd, and Pierhead Building, hosting numerous public events throughout the year.
Multiple bus routes and the Cardiff Bay railway station provide convenient access to this pedestrian area, which incorporates gentle slopes for accessibility.
The former docklands relief road runs beneath the plaza, allowing the surface to function as an uninterrupted pedestrian space in Cardiff Bay.
