Welsh Industrial and Maritime Museum, Industry museum in Butetown, Cardiff, Wales
The museum complex featured multiple exhibition halls displaying industrial machinery, maritime equipment, transportation vehicles, and artifacts from Welsh industrial history.
Opening its doors in 1977 as part of the National Museums and Galleries of Wales, the institution operated for 22 years until its closure in 1998.
The museum contained exhibits representing South Wales industrial heritage, including mining equipment, maritime vessels, locomotives, and transportation vehicles from different periods.
The museum distributed its collection to other institutions when it closed to make space for the Mermaid Quay shopping development in Cardiff Bay.
The museum displayed the Sea Alarm tugboat and housed a replica of Richard Trevithick's 1803 locomotive, which demonstrated early railway technology in Wales.
