Truefitt & Hill, British barbershop and manufacturer and supplier of shaving and personal care products
Truefitt & Hill is a barbershop on St. James's Street in the West End of London, offering haircuts, hot towel shaves, and other grooming treatments. The interior features dark wood panelling, leather chairs, and original artworks portraying some of its notable clients.
The shop was founded in 1805 and soon received a Royal Warrant from King George III. It moved to its current address on St. James's Street in 1994, settling into a street long associated with the British aristocracy and royal circles.
The shop takes its name from William Francis Truefitt, who styled himself as hairdresser to the British Royal Court. Regular clients still come in for traditional shaves and cuts, treating it as a place where old grooming habits are kept alive in everyday practice.
The shop is a short walk from Green Park Underground station and easy to reach on foot from St. James's Park. Booking ahead is recommended, as slots can fill up quickly, especially on weekdays.
The shop holds a Guinness World Record as the world's oldest barbershop still in operation. In 2021, it received a second Royal Warrant, showing that the connection with the royal family has continued across different reigns.
