Rouken Glen

Rouken Glen is a public park in Giffnock featuring walking paths along streams, waterfalls, diverse plantings, playgrounds, and recreational facilities throughout the grounds. The path network connects different areas and allows visitors to explore the natural features and designed landscapes.

Alexander Crum acquired the Birkinshaw Estate in 1858 and developed the parkland features visible today. The original scope of the property provided the foundation for this modern public space.

The park functions as a social hub for local residents, who gather here for festivals and seasonal celebrations. People use the grounds regularly for leisurely walks and family outings.

The park is accessible from multiple entrances with parking areas near the main gates and regular bus services nearby. Visitors should allow time to explore different sections, as the grounds are spread across a substantial area.

A man-made waterfall and weir at the head of the Glen create a visual focal point within the park. These structures are accessible via paths from the boating pond's southern end.
