22 St Peter's Square

22 St Peter's Square is a three-story building in Hammersmith featuring an Ionic colonnade with cast-iron railings and decorative sculptures including eagles and dogs at the entrance. The structure combines three connected houses, each with basement levels and restored historical features.

The property was built in 1827 and later housed the Royal Chiswick Laundry Western Dying and Cleaning Works in its rear section until 1968. This commercial operation shaped the building's function for over a century.

The basement once held the Fallout Shelter recording studio, where Island Records created music with artists such as Bob Marley, U2, and Nick Drake. This space became a notable gathering place for musicians during its active years.

The building sits opposite St Peter's Church and is easily viewed from the street. Its facade can be appreciated from the public space, offering a clear sense of its architectural layout and period details.

The center section displays a recessed design with a projecting ground floor colonnade that forms a balcony with an Anthemion pattern balustrade. This architectural detail sets the house apart from its neighbors and showcases craftsmanship from its era.
