606 Club, Jazz venue in Chelsea, London
The 606 Club is a live music venue on Lots Road in Chelsea, London, with seating for around 175 people across two levels. The room is compact, with tables arranged facing a small stage at one end, and a bar and kitchen serving food throughout the evening.
The club opened in 1976 as a small 30-seat bar on King's Road, taking its name from the house number at that address. It moved to its current location on Lots Road in 1988, where it has remained ever since.
The 606 Club regularly programs jazz, soul, R&B, blues, Latin, and gospel music on a small stage that puts performers just a few feet from the audience. The programming draws listeners who prefer an unhurried evening with live music over a large concert setting.
Food is ordered before drinks, and a music charge is added to the bill at the end of the evening rather than paid at the door. Booking a table in advance is a good idea, especially on weekends, as the room fills up on most nights.
The name comes directly from the street number of the original King's Road address where the club first opened. Even after moving to a completely different street, the owners kept the original number as the name.
